Red Spot Conditions for Car Rental

(please note this is an excerpt and should be regarded as a guide only. This information was valid as at 1 January 2006. The complete contract will be provided for your signature upon picking up your vehicle from Red Spot).

 

Payments and Deposits

We accept most major credit cards. Cash and Travellers Cheques are accepted as payment however a credit card is required for the security bond.

 

License and Age Requirements

We accept current Australian, International and overseas licenses. Unfortunately we are unable to insure drivers less than 21 years of age or drivers over 75 years of age. A surcharge of $A16.50 nett per day applies to drivers between 21 – 25 years of age.

 

Insurance

Standard Loss and Damage Liability is included, subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. A non-waiverable liability (drivers liability) applies.

 

Extra Cover

The following may be purchased

 

  • A Standard Loss or Damage Liability Reduction Package (SLDR) is available to drivers reducing from liability $2,750 to $550.
  • A Premium Loss or Damage Liability reduction (PLDR) is available further reducing the driver liability and providing coverage of tyres, windscreens and headlights. This option also reduced the theft liability to $110.00. (This package is not available on 12MB, UA, V & 3 tonne classes of vehicles or to 21 to 24 year old drivers).

One-way Rentals

One-way rentals are possible on all classes of vehicles except 4PM & MC (subject to availability). However at certain times of the year one-way rentals may be restricted from certain locations. Minimum days rentals are required to avoid a relocation fee. Rentals over 7 days do not acquire a one-way drop off fee. The drop-off fee is not included in the contractual agreement.

Government Charges

Current state government stamp duty charges are calculated at 2%. The goods and services tax (GST) rate as at May 2001 is 10%. GST is included in all rates and surcharges herein stated. International visitors may be eligible to claim GST payments made, inquiries should be directed to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

 

Child Restraints

Child restraints are available for children aged from newborns to 5 years of age. An additional charge of $A11 nett per day applies to a maximum of $A77 per seat.

 

Rental Period

A rental day consists of 24 hours. All extensions must be pre-authorised. A 59 minute grace period is provided from the time that the vehicle due. Late returns are charged 1/3rd of the daily rate for the first three hours and then additional days. Vehicle collections and returns must occur during normal hours of operation. Alternative arrangements may be made for collections and returns outside the hours of operations. (Please see the Hours of Operations on the Information Sheet included).

 

Fuel

Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel. Where a vehicle is returned with less than a full tank of fuel, the renter will be charged a $10.00 refuelling fee in addition to the cost of the petrol to fill the tank. A pre-paid fuel option is available at a nominal price per litre at time of rental.

 

Mileage

Red Spot Car Rentals Wholesale and Inbound rates include unlimited kilometres for most classes.

 

Booking Payment

The client prepays the agent (DriveNow) on behalf of Red Spot Car Rentals and Red Spot invoices the agent.

 

Security Bonds

It is imperative that your customer has a credit card with them at the point of rental. This credit card is used as a security bond for the safe return of the vehicle. We must be able to secure a credit card imprint at time of pick up.

 

1)       If the premium loss or damage liability reduction package (PLDR - $27.50 per day) option is taken up, a $110 pre-authorisation amount on the credit card is taken

2)       If the standard loss or damage liability reduction package (SLDR - $19.80 per day) option is taken up, a $550 pre authorisation amount on the credit card as a guarantee;

3)       If no liability reduction option is taken, a $1000 pre authorisation amount on the credit card is taken

Area of Use and Kilometres

Vehicles may be driven in all states and excluding Western Australia and Northern Territory. Travel outside these areas is by arrangement only. Daily rates include unlimited kilometres. Vehicles may be driven in Kosciusko National Park during snow season but must have tyre chains.

Vehicle collection procedures

Listed below are the procedures that your customers should follow to collect and drop off their vehicles.

 

Capital city locations – Sydney, Brisbane, & Melbourne

All your customers have to do is find their way to our conveniently located city offices (the addresses are listed earlier in this manual) and present their credit card, licence and voucher or quote their reservation number at the counter.

 

Sydney Airport

Red Spot Car Rentals has locations at all Sydney airport terminals. After collecting their baggage your customer should follow the car rental signs in the arrivals section of the airport terminal to our rental desks. Once there it is simply a matter of presenting their credit card, licence and voucher or quoting their reservation number.

 

Brisbane & Gold Coast domestic airports

The Red Spot Car Rentals staff member dressed in a red & black uniform will be waiting at the end of the relevant baggage carousel holding a Red Spot placard featuring your customers surname.

NB: It is imperative that you provide us with your customers flight details so our staff can anticipate delays and know which baggage carousel to be waiting at.

 

Brisbane International Airport

1.       At the Brisbane International Airport customers will exit the customs hall via automatic glass sliding doors.

2.       Your customer should then turn right and proceed to the rear of the terminal.

3.       A Red Spot Car Rentals staff member dressed in a red & black uniform will be standing under the Meeting Point sign holding a placard displaying your customers name.

 

Melbourne Domestic Airport

The Red Spot Car Rentals staff member dressed in a red & black uniform will be waiting at the end of the relevant baggage carousel holding a Red Spot sign featuring the customers surname.

NB: It is imperative that you provide us with your customers flight details so our staff can anticipate delays and know which baggage carousel to be waiting at.

 

Melbourne International Airport

1.       After exiting the baggage reclaim area your customer should proceed past the Thomas Cook Currency Exchange.

2.       Customers should then proceed to the Meeting Point sign located at the rear of the terminal.

3.       A Red Spot staff member dressed in a red & black uniform will be standing under the Meeting Point sign holding a sign displaying the customers name.

 

Vehicle drop off procedures

 

Capital city locations – Sydney, Brisbane & Melbourne

Returning vehicles to our capital city locations is simply a matter of driving into the parking bays in front of our capital city locations and returning the keys to the staff at our counters.

 

Sydney Airport

As we have locations at all Sydney airport terminals returning a vehicle is a simple procedure. Your customer should follow the signs marked car rental return and park the vehicle in the bays that are marked as RED SPOT parking bays. Please advise your customer that they should note the fuel level and mileage before returning the keys to our rental desks. All rental desks at Sydney airport are located in the arrivals section of the airport terminal.

 

Brisbane Domestic Airport

1.       Proceed to Short Term Public Car Park and collect a parking ticket from the ticket machine. Please leave this parking ticket on the vehicles dashboard.

2.       Follow the Off Airport Car Rental Area signs.

3.       Once in the Off Airport Car Rental Carpark, park the vehicle in row S (please ensure that the parking ticket is left in the vehicle).

4.       To drop off the car keys proceed to the terminal. Head towards the Train Station Entrance sign.

5.       Just inside the entrance there are ten small white boxes on the right hand wall.

6.       Insert the keys in the box that is marked Red Spot Car Rentals

NB: No staff member will be present to check the car in.

 

Coolangatta Airport

1.       Proceed to the car rental section of the car park

2.       Park the vehicle in front of the Red Spot Car Rentals key return box

3.       Place the keys in the return box

NB: No staff member will be present to check the car in.

 

Brisbane International Airport

1.       Follow the signs to the public car park

2.       Park your rental vehicle in row D car space anywhere within this section

3.       To return your keys, walk across the road to the international airport building

4.       Walk through the entrance, past the elevator to the Thai airways office.

5.       Look to your right and you will see a large white box saying Off airport car rental key return. (Under the escalators) Red Spots key return is in box number 1. It is Marked Red Spot Car Rentals.

6.       Place your keys in Red Spots box, and we will collect the vehicle shortly.

NB: No staff member will be present to check the car in.

 

Melbourne Airport Domestic & International

1.       Follow the car rental return signs into the airport car park

2.       Just after the entrance on the right hand side you will see a small parking area called OFF AIRPORT CAR RENTAL RETURNS.

3.       Park the vehicle within a bay in this area

4.       Drop the keys into the Red Spot Car Rentals key return box on the wall

5.       Proceed to the terminal to your flight.

 

Guarantee of Vehicle

Red Spot guarantee by vehicle group not by make, model or colour
